Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a “nose job,” is a surgical procedure designed to reshape or repair the nose for aesthetic or functional purposes. It is one of the most sought-after cosmetic surgeries and is performed by an expert plastic surgeon or an otolaryngologist. Rhinoplasty can correct a wide range of issues, such as altering the nose’s size, shape, or proportions, and fixing structural problems like a deviated septum that can cause breathing difficulties.

The procedure can be categorized into two main types: open and closed rhinoplasty. In an open rhinoplasty, an incision is made across the columella (the tissue between the nostrils) to access the internal structures of the nose. In closed rhinoplasty, incisions are hidden inside the nostrils, resulting in no visible scarring. The surgeon then reshapes the bone, cartilage, and soft tissue as needed.
